It is used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles, towed vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. There are no two vehicles in operation that have the same VIN. A VIN displays the car's unique features, history, specifications and manufacturer. All cars built after 1981 have a VIN.
