A vehicle identification number (VIN) (also called a chassis number or frame number) is served as the car's fingerprint and is represented in a 17 character (digits and capital letters) unique code. It is used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles, towed vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. There are no two vehicles in operation that have the same VIN. A VIN displays the car's unique features, history, specifications and manufacturer. All cars built after 1981 have a VIN.
A vehicle identification number (VIN) (also called a chassis number or frame number) can be found on the dashboard, driver's side door and on the registration certificate.
